Why is my bottle of fish oil cloudy? Is it harmful?
Your bottle of fish oil might be cloudy because saturated fatty acids (found in low levels in Ascenta’s omega-3 products) can sometimes solidify at refrigeration temperatures, which creates the cloudiness or sediment that you may see in your bottle. This is completely normal and does not affect quality so your fish oil will still be pourable and taste the same under these conditions.
What is the white, cloudy sediment in my fish oil?
The white, cloudy sediment that can sometimes be found in bottles of fish oil is saturated fatty acids (found in low levels in Ascenta’s omega-3 products). Saturated fatty acids have higher melting points and higher solidification points than longer chain fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA. Therefore, saturates can sometimes solidify at refrigeration temperatures and this creates the cloudiness or sediment that you may see in your bottle; this is typical of supplements containing unsaturated fatty acids. If you are concerned about the white, cloudy sediment in your fish oil, we recommend that you shake the bottle before serving.
What meat does smoky meat flavour come from?
Ascenta’s smoky meat flavour does not contain actual meat or go through any smoking process. Natural flavours are sometimes made up of components from natural sources other than the named flavour because of availability, enhanced flavour profile and better stability. In this case, natural flavour components are combined to simulate a smokey meat flavour. Some examples of natural components are vegetable and spice extracts.
Do your natural flavours contain allergens?
Our flavours do not contain wheat, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, egg, soy, fish, or shellfish. Our flavours may be manufactured on the same production line as some of these common allergens with the exception of peanuts; however, thorough cleaning techniques are employed to prevent the cross contamination of flavours and allergens during manufacturing or packaging.
Can dogs/cats consume NutraSea and can humans take Ascenta Animal Health products?
The ingredients in the Ascenta Animal Health products are all food grade so they are suited for human use but we cannot recommend them for humans. In addition, we have no data to support that our human products are unsafe for dogs or cats.
